Federal Skilled Worker Program is for applicants who are selected based on their ability to become economically established in Canada. Under this program, applicants along with their dependent family members obtain permanent resident status in Canada.
1) demonstration of minimum 1 (one) year work experience in the past 10 (ten) years in managerial, professional or technical occupations,
2) have an advanced level of English and/or French,
3) possession of a post-secondary certificate, diploma or degree.
Applicants who meet all the conditions set out in the minimum requirements are eligible to be assessed based on the selection factors in the Federal Skilled Worker points grid:
skills in English and/or French,
foreign and/or Canadian work experience,
whether possession of a valid job offer from an employer in Canada,
whether possession of provincial nomination.
Potential applicants will complete an Express Entry profile. Applicants will be ranked against others in the Express Entry pool using a point-based system. Only the highest-ranking applicants in the pool will be invited to apply for permanent residence in Canada.
Qualifications of spouses, de-facto spouses or conjugal partners of principal applicants will also be taken into consideration determining the selection point.
Applicants must demonstrate a sufficient financial net worth to meet the initial settlement costs for the applicant and accompanying dependents. Applicants who are currently able to legally work in Canada and have a valid job offer from an employer in Canada are exempt from financial requirements.
Federal Skilled Workers and their family members who have lived in Canada for 3 (three) out of 5 (five) years (1,095 days) preceding the application are eligible to apply for Canadian citizenship.
Applicants are required to undergo a medical check and must have no criminal record.
